Ocean City New Jersey-

The history of this place is very interesting. The Island was used for many things in 1700 being: an Indian summer fishing camp, a cattle grazing area and sometimes people would boat over for picnics or hunting.
In the mid-19th century, Parker Miller and his family became the first year-round residents.
In 1879, four Methodist ministers purchased Peck’s Beach to create a Christian seaside resort and camp meeting place. Therefore there is a christian background in this city.
The boardwalk was built and rebuilt several times due to damage from natural disasters.
Historically, Ocean City is a dry town—there is no public drinking anywhere on the island. Some residents and tourists alike seem to appreciate this law that sets the island apart from any of its surrounding towns.
This place has pretty much stayed the same over time. Other than updating and becoming more modern for tourism and renovations due to inclement weather conditions and a recent fire on the boardwalk resulted in restoration to be done.
Today the city is still a dry town!
The role of this place in history is:
Thousands of people from across the country choose Ocean City, New Jersey as their family vacation destination each year, and with good reason. Ocean City has achieved a proud reputation as one of the leading vacation spots with dozens of activities and amusements for adults as well as kids of all ages. During the summer, nearly one million people will pass through Ocean City, New Jersey. When they visit, they find a welcoming community with all they need to make their stay memorable and enjoyable for the whole family.
I have shaped this place by sharing my love for such a unique and fun place with others to visit with their loved ones.
I have been shaped by this place and its history because it truly is my happy place! I can go down and enjoy bike riding. Walks on the boardwalk and enjoying all the activities. The beach is my favorite place to relax and even get some work done.
Digital-
Tik Tok-

The history of this platform is relatively short because it is so new. Launched in 2016 by the Chinese startup company ByteDance, it’s known there as Douyin. March 2019 – TikTok surpasses 1 billion downloads globally. April 2020 – TikTok hits 2 billion downloads globally. Only 7.1% of TikTok users are age 50 or older.
Tik Tok has increased its fan base exponentially overtime.
The role of this platform in history is to be different than the rest of social media platforms. TikTok is a popular social media app that allows users to create, watch, and share 15-second videos shot on cellphones. With its personalized feeds of quirky short videos set to music and sound effects, the app isnotable for itsaddictive quality and high levels of engagement.
I have shaped this place by finding relatable, educational, funny, heartfelt videos and sharing them with others by using the share feature on the app.
I have been shaped by this place and its history because it does waste a lot of my time but it is very entertaining and I have learned so much from others sharing their ideas and experiences with the world. I have learned so much about new teachers and teaching in general that I will definitely apply to my own practice.
You might consider reading a great memoir by Gay Talese called “Unto the Fathers,” which describes his family’s history in first Italy and then Ocean City.
That sounds really interesting ! My family is off the boat Italian and lives in Ocean City. They live above a restaurant called Randazzo’s which they own.
I have never been to Ocean City but it looks like a really nice and fun place to visit! I may add this to my bucket list for this summer! It is interesting that it is a dry place, where drinking is not permitted. This may be a big attractant to people who do not drink, like me. Thanks for sharing!
I too enjoy this place because it a a dry town. It is super family oriented and there really is no place in the area that can replicate the experience you have when you stay in Ocean City NJ. Definitely go for a weekend at some point this summer the boardwalk and restaurants are fantastic! Asbury Ave also has so many great shops and boutiques!! Let me know if you have any more questions.
Gina. It’s nice to see an amusement park without the “killer rides” minus the wheel in the middle. The absence of drinking is a nice touch as well.
